Symphony Leagues

There are ten Leagues associated with the San Francisco Symphony. These Leagues support the Symphony with fundraising events such as garden tours, cocktail parties, theater and education events, and fashion shows. What Leagues might you be interested in joining?

What committees might you be interested in joining?

Concerts for Kids Docent: training is offered each year for docents interested in going into classrooms to prepare students for the special children’s concerts presented by the SFS.

Docent Tours - Docent: lead tours of Davies Symphony Hall, the Opera House, and Herbst Theatre on Mondays (10am - 2pm) and by appointment on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A self-taught training program is available to volunteers with support from experienced volunteers during the training period.

Docent Tours - Desk Docent: greet and sell tickets to guests attending Docent Tours.

Office Volunteers: volunteers work in the Volunteer Council office helping with special events support, phones, reception of visitors, computer tasks, mailings, and other administrative and database maintenance work. Office Volunteers must be available during normal operating hours of the VC Office (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm).

Open Rehearsal Host: serve coffee and doughnuts to patrons attending eight to ten Open Rehearsal programs, held on Wednesday mornings. These volunteers arrive at Davies Symphony Hall at 7:30am.

Posters: prepare posters of the past year’s activities, and which are displayed on the Orchestra Level of Davies Symphony Hall to promote volunteerism.

Repeat Performance: the San Francisco Symphony’s resale shop has been in business since 1972. Volunteers work in sales, crediting, pricing, and displays.

Roster/Directory: a roster of all SFS volunteers is printed annually. Production of the roster requires maintaining changes and corrections in the database throughout the year, proofreading, and distributing the roster to all volunteers.

Special Events Staffing: volunteer to assist at events such as the Black & White Ball in June, Deck the Hall in December, and the Opening Gala in September.

Symphony Store: work in sales and inventory for the Symphony Store. In operation since 1981, the Store is located on the Orchestra Level of Davies Symphony Hall. It is open before all concerts and during intermissions.
